Thought I heard every word that you said All the rock, salt and nails turning round in my head Have seen me defeated at last My colonial spirit is laying down, dead And my feet stand asleep on the floor Put my best one forward just to get through this door I’ve come six thousand miles through the past And am I worthless or am I worth more? The blossom falls now in the evening breeze It never knows just how many it’s pleased Try to protect it from all this disease See how it slips through my fingers with ease Now there’s desert right here in my hand A badwater basin as dry as the sands One flower to take in the air And I’m dry on my knees and here’s my sinner’s prayer The blossom falls now in the evening breeze It never knows just how many it’s pleased Try to protect it from all this disease See how it slips through my fingers with ease The tighter the grasp The quicker the kill Fingers curl around Just hoping that it’s real And under the same sky But there not as dry There’s aspersions cast along the party line Now there’s no verse that you could quote me That I could belong to, believe in or need I step out of your heaven-less stare And the blossom falls And there’s no-one to care And you’re nothing, dear; you’re just lost in the air © Simon Olivier 2007. Songs You Never Heard: ‘Blossoms Fall’
Posted in Music on January 16, 2010 by scriptsimonDoes My Avatar Look Big In This? Cameron, Snyder and the March of the ™s.
Posted in Film with tags avatar, james cameron on January 16, 2010 by scriptsimonSo James Cameron’s mighty BlueManEpic™ swathes its way through all the competition, treating horror, comedy and drama with equally slaughterous disdain, like some villain from a Tolkien trilogy, somnambulating a path towards becoming Most Successful Movie Of All Time™, where, wielding the divine power of the TMs claimed after the fall of the King Of Pop™, Avatar will rule the world for all eternity and thus will begin an age where stuff is blue. Forever. And good luck to it, I guess. If only it were better…

Show @The Plum Tree 07/11/09
Posted in News on October 29, 2009 by peanutalbinosHello one and all…
OK. We’ve been lured out of hibernation. The poet E. Amato begged, pleaded, offered all kinds of unmentionable favours, (she even, I might add, promised to stay in the room when we’re on!) to play at her new acoustic night, ‘Super-Zesty Acoustic Sessions‘. How could we refuse?

Carl Sagan’s ‘Cosmos’ re-released on DVD…
Posted in Film with tags carl sagan, cosmos on October 28, 2009 by peanutalbinosThe Cosmos is all that is, ever was, or ever will be… We are, all of us, made of star-stuff.
You cannot imagine the squeaky sound of delight that escaped from my being when I discovered that ‘Cosmos‘ had been re-released on DVD. No longer do I have to watch the first episode over and over on Google Video. Now I have no less than 13 hours of Sagan!
I cannot recommend this box set enough. Science at school was dull. They should have sat us down with some fizzy pop and uncle Carl. Admittedly, as teenagers we would have mocked the dated graphics and music, his voice, his corduroy suits but, dammit, we would have learnt something. His enthusiasm is infectious.
For anyone not familiar with Carl Sagan (and I wasn’t up until a year ago) here’s something to whet your appetite:
Whiskey Mick, Jonny Berliner and Alex McKay @Proud…
Posted in Music, Uncategorized with tags alex mckay, jonny berliner, proud gallery, whiskey mick on October 27, 2009 by peanutalbinosIt’s not often I go to London for anything other than to play a gig, so it was jolly strange to find myself in the cavernous Proud Gallery for the ‘Monday Night Youth Club‘ – a relatively new venture for Radha (Folkadot) and co.
After setting my shirt on fire (!) I settled down in one of the stables to listen to Whiskey Mick blast through some folk tunes with Jonny Berliner on guitar and Andy McKay on banjo. Completely unrehearsed, it was the lovely warm sound of ‘winging it’! Thanks guys.
The complete absence of amplification made it all the more special. It drew you in. Admittedly, I couldn’t hear a word Mick was singing but that’s hardly the point. I couldn’t hear a bloody thing in ‘The Big Gig Room’ either… and that’s with thousands of pounds worth of PA.
Anyone for a power cut?

Peanut Albinos on Phonovault…
Posted in News, Uncategorized with tags online, peanut albinos, phonovault on October 20, 2009 by peanutalbinosWe’re pleased to announce that ‘Falling From The Saddle of a High Horse’ is now available from Phonovault.
This from their website:
‘The PhonoVault is an online bazaar of the bizarre, a veritable treasure trove of all things unusual, intriguing, dark, and downright absurd in the world of music. A workshop of weird and wonderful delights thriving deep in the shadow of everything modernist and mainstream, and a sanctuary for those with a nostalgia for an age that never was, but should have been.
The PhonoVault is a specialist online music retailer with a vaudevillian twist. Our main aim is to help you, our fellow connoisseurs of the curious and countercultural, to find the music you desperately need in your lives, whilst removing the hassle of trawling through the catalogues of larger, less specialised music stores. If you share our admirably skewed worldview, we want to share a whole miscellany of musical gems with you. The central ethos of the PhonoVault is simple; to gather together music that harks back to a golden era, music that entices, excites and intrigues those looking for an antidote to slick, modern, mainstream fare.
The store mines deep into a rich and diverse seam of genres and styles, including Steampunk, Dieselpunk, Gypsy/klezmer music, Victoriana, folk, blues, burlesque, dark cabaret, gothic Americana, darkwave, Neo-Vaudeville, death country, and all sorts of sounds from the more eccentric side of life. Within the vault you will find albums to purchase on CD or download. Also, if you register with the PhonoVault, you will receive a free song download every week with our regular newsletter, helping you discover even more fantastic new music.’
So far our dealings with them have been great so do consider buying from them. Although the prices are slightly higher than say, CD Baby or iTunes, Phonovault offer a much better deal to the artists. Good luck to them!
